Survival Tip

TipRation your drinking water

Water is a high priority in survival situations, you can't do without this stuff. If you've prepared before setting out on your journey you should have some water with you, ration what you have to make it last. On average a person needs around 2.5 litres a day, depending on the climate where lost and the amount of physical exertion.

Try to leave the work until the cooler night hours to avoid dehydration and sweating which results in valuable fluid loss. Generally the less you sweat the less water you will have to replace. If you have gone without water for any great length of time it is not advisable to drink a large amount in one go.

It is better to take small sips wetting the inside of your mouth and swallowing slowly, drinking a large amount may only end up becoming a waste of precious resource due to your body passing through what it doesn't need at the time.

Course Our Free On-line Survival Tutorial covers this topic.
